Education and leisure.
The landscaped avenues and spacious plazas of this new quarter will encourage passers-by
and residents to linger and relax. The atmosphere will be enhanced by the numerous restaurants,
cafés and shops which will create a metropolitan feel in the area. Because Europaallee will
connect the exclusive railway station district and the up-and-coming and popular district
around Langstrasse it will absorb excitement and influences from both sides and a new urban
character will evolve. The immediate neighbourhood around “Kassernenareal” will also be
attractive for leisure and cultural opportunities.
The Pädagogische Hochschule has announced its interest in relocating to Europaallee and
would bring with it 2,000 students who will bring great life and energy to the area. The focus on
education extends into the neighbouring area around “Kassernenareal”. An area steeped in tradition
and which, in a few years, is likely to see further educational institutes or a new congress building.
The proximity to Zurich’s main railway station also ensures that this new quarter will be a place
in which a diversity of professional, social and age groups can come together: from business
executives to students from shop keepers to those involved in the arts and in culture.
The planning of this new quarter is well underway and as soon as more is known about the education
and leisure element, it will be published on this website.
